Here's a horrible review for a dirty restaurant:

Title: AVOID THIS HEALTH HAZARD AT ALL COSTS!

I'm still trying to process the sheer disgust I felt after dining at Washy’s Pub last night. The moment we walked in, it was clear that cleanliness wasn't even on their radar.

The floors were sticky, the tables were grimy, and the smell of stale grease hung heavy in the air. But we were hungry and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE.

Our server seemed completely disinterested in our presence, and it took an eternity to get our orders taken. When the food finally arrived, I was appalled

We immediately asked to speak to the manager, who seemed utterly unconcerned by our complaints. No apology, no offer to comp our meal or provide a discount. Just a shrug and a "sorry to hear that."

Needless to say, we will never be back. In fact, I'd advise anyone who values their health and sanity to steer clear of this dump. Washy’s Pub is a breeding ground for bacteria and a slap in the face to the very concept of cleanliness.

Save your stomach (and your dignity) and eat somewhere – anywhere –

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner scheduled at another restaurant but a small fire that morning left us scrambling to find another place to accommodate 30 hungry people.

The staff at Washy's Pub to the rescue. With short notice, they prepared several tables, brought in extra staff and were ready for us when we arrived.

Even better, the food was truly excellent and well-priced. The restaurant was spotless, and the staff were understanding and amazingly helpful.

I'd like to offer a very sincere THANK YOU to the folks at Washy's Pub. We were in a bind and you not only came through for us, you went above and beyond to make it a great night.

The test of truth if a pub is really a pub, for me, is not necessarily the booze (Whisky) selection, but if they serve a great fish and chips.

Oh, and Washy's Pub certainly did. The hand bread cod fish was delish. I liked that they made their tartar sauce in-house too. I used it for both the fish and fries.

The coleslaw was okay... Just needed a bit more pepper to perk it up. Overall, great Pub find in Columbia, Illinois and on the main stretch, so it was easy to find.

We are full-time RVers who, while traveling around the US, are in search of the best cheeseburger and have a rating system of The Best (only 1 rated), Very Good, Good, OK, and Not Impressed. While at our home base in Southern Illinois, we were in the Columbia, IL, area and Googled “hamburger restaurants.” We saw Washy’s Pub had good burger reviews, so decided to give them a try for lunch. Washy’s has a simple bar atmosphere with about a dozen tables. We ordered their Classic burger with me having American cheese and my wife pepperjack. We also requested lettuce, pickles, and sliced onions. The handmade patties were about 10 oz (good sized), nicely seasoned, cooked to order, charbroiled, and served on a nicely-toast fresh bun. I had their skinny-style battered fries and my wife had onion rings. The burgers came out hot and were super tasty due the meat seasoning. We’re not sure what seasoning they used, but it worked! My wife’s burger was just a tiny bit better than mine due the pepperjack they use. The fries and onion rings were among the best we’ve had as well. We rated the burgers (even without a special sauce), fries, and onion rings Very Good. The service was also top notch.
