The major attraction in Gays, this is indeed a Two Story Outhouse. I was unable to prove how it works as it was padlocked and secured. You'll just have to use your imagination and that's what makes it even better.

It is very fascinating to think about a two story outhouse and how it works! It is located in the little town of Gays. I have been here several times. The little area where it is located is very well maintained. One of these days I am going to stop to read all about it on the board that is located near the outhouse. Cross it off of your bucket list.

We enjoyed our visit. We filled out a note to let them know we visited. I was surprised the following week we received a very nice card and information on the outhouse.
So nice of them to take the time to send this to us.

This is a really cute & interesting, right off the main road before you get to Shelbyville or Mattoon, Il. small but has a really neat history worth of 5 minutes stop if you're in the area 😃

There is a fascinating history behind this structure and how it was once attached to a hotel. I am a bit puzzled as to why people think you should be able to use it and why it's locked. It is an attraction not a rest stop. Read the board a get a load of its history. It is well kept and a great novelty. Many years ago Spencer Gifts sold a poster that had teachers on the top and students on the bottom. If you are driving through I highly recommend it.

If you're in the area, it's right next to the highway and is a fun, historic, interesting place. The pics and stories last a lifetime.
