Up a steep set of stairs (there is an elevator, too), is a surprisingly robust and well-stocked toy shop with a little bit of everything, from infant toys to construction sets and 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles. In the fall, they also stock Halloween costume basics.

As other reviews note, there’s an amazing number of action and collectible figures, tons of baby and Barbie/fashion dolls, and pretty much all the classic board games I’ve looked for to gift. Also plenty of craft-y type sets, including activity books. My first visit, I was amazed at the mini FAO Schwartz capacity. Now it’s a go-to when shopping for kids and even grownups who are kids inside.

One hint to the treasure-chest nature of the place is their consistently smile-provoking street-side window display. Take a minute to check it out. Someone really passionate about toys must be behind it because it’s always entertaining as we stroll by and often changes. Lots of Easter-egg vignettes of different toys interacting in oddball, silly ways that make me itch to play like I’m a kid again. Fun!

This place is really good. It reminds me of the old-school toy stores that used to be around in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s take advantage and support a small business.

Enter through the street door left of the big toy displays outside Neergaard, and walk one flight upstairs.
