Best gaming place I have ever been to. Before going here I had never played a miniature game, the owner is really cool and very knowledgably. The people, atmosphere is amazing. Especially if you are looking for an open play kind of setting. Its a very welcoming environment with great friendly people! I always enjoy coming to play a game here.

I game at the Den pretty regularly and absolutely love it! It's significantly further from my house than other local gaming stores, but worth every minute of the drive, and for several reasons. Joe and Rosie are always eager to help if I have questions or a special order- all my ordered have come in correctly and promptly, which I can not say is the case with other stores I've been to. The crowd at the Den is there to have fun, and it shows in the attitude of the store as a whole. The events are casual and geared frequently towards narrative rather than ubercompetitive tournaments. Even when I lose a game, I leave there with a smile. The Den is, hands down, bar-none, the best gaming store in the Sacramento area.

Great atmosphere and very welcoming to new Table Top gamers of all kinds. Scheduled events are dependable and the owner Joe is extremely helpful. This place is a must visit if you're even remotely interested in Table Top Gaming.

Since it opened, Ogres Den has been my go-to store. The owner, Joe, is really helpful, insightful, and is extremely patient, even when we interrupt his painting for a rules clarification. Amazing selection, amazing community, great vibes, great prices.

Our first time there was much better than this second time. Everyone was busy milling about, playing games, talking shop, etc, during both visits. The atmosphere was mostly calm, with most patrons focusing on their games. I sat in a corner and focused on my drawings during my first visit. However, on the second visit, my husband and I couldn't find a sitter so we brought our 2 year old daughter with us; there's a sign in the store: "Watch your little Ogres" meaning children are welcome but please keep an eye on them. Well, she was sitting at a table with her Minnie Mouse figurine playing on some rock terrain when the female employee came by and said, "Oh no, don't touch the terrain." She removed the pieces that were nearest my daughter and walked away. We then moved to a regular table and I pulled out her coloring book and markers, as well as my drawing items while Dad set up a game with some friends. The fold out chairs they have there don't seem real expensive, I might even assume the store got them pretty cheap. The orange cushions are very light weight and the it folds upwards very easily. While sitting in the chair, simply scooting back, our daughter fell through the chair backing as the cushion folded up; her neck scrapped along the upper back during the fall, and her head hit the tile flooring. The room went silent. Of course she began crying, but she was quickly soothed and distracted. Games resumed. As the night progressed, our daughter got bored and began playing with the front door; it chimes when opened and she enjoyed the sound. This brought on stares from the employee and the owner. I tied the chair cushion down with a dog leash I had in my car, and convinced my daughter to sit and color with me. The wiggle worm she is, she kept moving around in the chair. It held in place with the leash, so I let her climb around and enjoy herself. That was until the owner came by and told me she needs to be more careful and not play in the chair. I told him it was tied securely and he scuffed saying, "Yeah, but still." I was offended! She can't touch anything, play with anything, and now you don't like how she's sitting in the chairs... she's a toddler who wasn't disrupting anyone! Needless to say, I packed up and told my husband it was time to leave. After explaining the situation to him, he stated that that store will not be receiving his business! We may return again, only to meet up with friends and enjoy a few games, but we will not be supporting their business!

There are a number of gaming stores in the Sacramento area but The Ogre's Den is by far my favorite. They have worked hard to produce not just a store but a community. A lot of work goes into supporting new gamers and promoting women in gaming. I have been a table top gamer for many many years but my wife..... not so much. After finding The Ogre's Den my wife is now a bigger gamer than me.There are events all the time and you can always find someone who will help you learn a new game. The Ogre's Den is not just a place to buy games but gives you a place to play your games. I travel at least 45 minutes just to visit the store and it is always worth the trip.

Owner is great. Best customer service at any gaming shop in the Sacramento area. Some shops they'll ignore you, I have never had that happen here. They've come on preorders for me, and held other items I forgot to preorder on release day.

Huge selection. More focused on Warhammer than Dungeons and Dragons, but still great if you want miniatures for any game. Also very knowledgeable people.
