Today, I went through one of the most traumatic, humiliating experiences of my Adult life at this store. Debating myself on whether to share my experience or not, I visualize a future customer receiving the same treatment, and its heartbreaking to imagine how it might affect another individual in a negative manner, so this serves as precedent.
To All employees I couldn't be complimentary enough, to nod my head in respect for the amazing job they manage to deliver to us customers, which makes us want to come back again and again because our visits, I believe, impacts us in a positive way and its influence on this community is palpable, proof is the camraderie often seen amongst the people that frequent this locale. I consider myself one. And it's all down to the quality of employees that not only treat you with respect and honor, but usually with a smile and excitement that is contagious.
For months and months, I've come to appreciate each employee and their personality, because they emanate a sincere desire to accommodate and welcome the customers. I won't deny, there occasions when persons with not so good intentions come in through the door, and the way they deal with those situations leaves no doubt that for the most part, guests are treated so humanly because it's quality human beings working behind the counter.
For the most part, I succinctly said, because once in a while a crew member would tackle things in an unorthodox manner. That has my respect as well. It is when said treatment goes beyond rationality, and without any regard for honoring another person's dignity is where I think the line is drawn.
I won't mention any names because actions speak louder than any last name, and someone's behavior is indefensible not because it happened to me... But because the trade off in a civil exchange is to honor and respect the other person's right to basic human dignity. Basic.
I've witnessed a particular employee engaging in small talk with either other employees or his banter with customers. To my dismay, some of the comments I had the disgrace of hearing this person utter, were shocking to say the least. Not wanting to repeat his discourse, I decided not to give much importance to his opinion on Hispanic people, on Mexican customers... Those remarks where he sarcastically or not, inferred inferiority about Latinos. Specifically Mexicans, was so appealing to hear not even because he is an employee, but just hearing him say this things out loud, directed at customers in front of him. "Funny remarks" so demoralizing to the people in front of him that he knew would not understand what he was saying, and making fun of them because of that. Mocking them as ignorant human beings. That was just enough for me to stay away from this store for a few months on end.
Even after then, I would always try to avoid going to the store if I knew he was at the front desk. The way he looked down and mocked people of color, or the way he would give a backhanded compliment and then smirk for knowing that they didn't catch on, and a minute later, he would be back to normal whenever the customers were caucasian, having witnessed that, is sickening to me.
The fact that he himself is Hispanic adds more insult to injury.
I'm sure he noticed my disapproving reaction one of the many times, . I tried to avoid visiting if he was there. About a month ago, after I got off work, I arrive at the store and sit at the car waiting for call from work. He decided to ban me because i was "defiant". I said fine. But Today, he came outside to threaten other customers with a ban it they were seen talking to me. He called me a "druggie", in front of my friend mocking me as he was taking pics of truck parked in the streets, again, taunting me with calling the cops and telling them I was drunk to arrest me., he refused to give me a reason why I was receiving this treatment or was banned. He seemed totally fine calling the cops and lying to get me arrested. I feel debased, and demoralized. Is this not retaliation? All this at the store I claim to love so much.

My experience is (thus far!) with the online portion of The Adult Shoppe, it was fun and easy to browse their site, my selections were in stock and arrived without delay.

Without too many details, I made an error at the checkout and didn't realize until Christmas morning. I sent an email and was answered quickly by a friendly, and professional response with a simple and very kind solution directly from the owner.

I'd give 10 stars if I could!

So me and my husband went in there for the first time and it was very uncomfortable . The girl working was rude and couldn't answer any of our questions . She lacks of communication skills . The second time we went she was the same , very rude and grouchy but smiling at my husband . Karina is very unprofessional , her friend was hanging out at the front by the register . We also went to the other 2 locations and they were much better than this location on Thomas Rd . I do not recommend you going when Karina is working .
