Take Heart: Fair Trade Finds with a Cause

I recently checked out Take Heart and totally fell in love! This local shop has amazing stuff that’s not only ethically made but also supports widows and orphans in Kenya. It’s like shopping with a purpose!

The shop is super cute and organized, and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. If you're looking for unique gifts or just want to do some good, definitely check out Take Heart!

Such a great store. They sell unique, hand-made items and use the proceeds to assist orphans and widows in Africa, amongst other undeserved populations.

All of the employees are very nice too. I stop by Take Heart almost every time I'm downtown.

This is an amazing store downtown Lakeland. There are so many unique items. The greeting cards are beautiful. Perfect place to find a gift for someone. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I always find something for everyone at Take Heart! A local gem! My son was with me today and purchased a lovely necklace created by Ugandan widows using beads made from bullet casings from recent unrest and violence there. He also purchased a 10” gorgeous soapstone sculpture of the Holy family. Such treasures that you won’t find in Walmart or other retailers where 90% of merchandise is mass produced in China. Take Heart sends profits to non profits that support orphaned children and families in various parts of the world.

03/01/2022, I have visited this store several times, the first in November 2021. I was very impressed with all of the one of a kind handmade items from Africa, such as Keychains made from beads, baskets/bowls made from telephone wire (Zulu Wire Baskets) and Decorative Trees made from African Banana Fiber. Also many other recycled materials used to produce many other decorative and useful items. The owner Michelle Johnson and employee Billie Frier and Carol are wonderful, very helpful and informative with describing and explaining the merchandise in the store. The Bridge to Africa helps many people and families live better lives when their one of a kind handmade merchandise is purchased by consumers. There is a Take Hearts Loyalty Program that you can join. A wonderful store to visit while in Downtown Lakeland. Highly Recommend!!!

It is always a pleasure shopping at take heart. They have the most unique gift items. I told my children to always buy my birthday and Christmas gifts and their store. Of course every lady that works there is so special and kind.
