Mario is an expert…I went to his shop to have an old Ikart print framed. He was so friendly and although it was the end of the day he took the time to show me all sorts of options that fit what I had in mind. He has so many years of experience, that is priceless! Thank you Mario

Never, ever again. I really wish I started with just one piece to learn their quality for myself, but the multiple positive reviews here sold me, which is all the more reason I need to share my experience here.

First, maybe people aren’t price conscious or shop around, but this place is quite high in comparison to most other framers I’ve worked with.

Second, they also have one of the slowest turn around times I’ve experienced.

Third, they have zero service. Zero.

When I brought (literally) two dozen pieces in, Bruce looked over everything and started sorting options. There is surprisingly little to choose from and it appears they really do better with pre-made frames and mirrors because the custom frame selection is incredibly modest.

Even though I left him with a dozen pieces, one of which was 7ft by 3ft, there was no mention of a price break for bringing so much work - or even to encourage me to frame the other dozen pieces I was leaving with. That’s fine and I respect his choice to not offer any incentives, but for a place called “square deal” I found it odd.

Bruce said it would be about 10 days, 2 weeks at the latest. Well, 2 weeks came and went without any update or call to let me know they might be running behind. The 16th day I stopped in since they’re right down the street and Mario said I’d have to call the next day for an update.

No word from anyone and so I called on day 18 - Mario again. “I think I have 7 pieces done” ... It’s been over 2 weeks and barely half the order is done. “I think they’ll be done by the end of the day - I’ll call you then.”

Dear Reader, do you think anyone called me by the end of the day?

No. No they did not.

I called at 5pm and they said they were just now finishing the last piece, but they were closing up so I’d have to wait until Tuesday (because Monday is a holiday). “Well, I brought them to you nearly 3 weeks ago so that I could hang them over the long weekend - I was told two weeks at the latest.”

So they stayed open for me to come get the pieces, which would be nice under normal circumstances, but this was honestly the least they could do - and the least they did.

1) The craftsmanship is poor at best.
2) In a couple instances I don’t believe these were the woods I picked out.
3) The giant piece is clearly damaged with glue smudges across the front of the painting.
4) Not one single apology for running late, failing to call me back or even that they were just going to let everything sit there for 3 more days.
5) Martin, the guy who made sure to collect the rest of the money, actually had the balls to them say “if you needed these by a certain date you should have told us and we could have rushed them for 20% more”

Martin... you are out of your damn mind if you think “Square Deal” is ever getting any more money from me.

I called you at 1pm and you had 7 pieces done. You rushed through the other 5 in 4hrs - but somehow that took you almost 3 weeks?

Garbage peddling swindlers. Never again and I hope this saves someone else from this experience. (And I have a great framer if you need a recommendation - I’d only hoped to spread the work around small businesses and this is my new neighborhood, but Square Deal was a disaster.)

August 24, 2021: They do great work and very reasonable. I was glad they had a sign on the door that said “no mask, no business“ or something to that effect. When I went in to pick up my art, there was a couple there where the lady had a mask on and the gentleman did not. I tried to politely ask him to please put a mask on as there is a sign on the door that tells people to. He complied. When it was my turn, I walked up and gave my name and I asked to pick up the framing. I told Mario that as a customer I should not have to tell another customer to put on their mask. That it is his job to do that. After all, his establishment puts that sign up to protect others and presumably his staff. Ironically, Mario didn’t have a mask on. He replied that he hasn’t even noticed that the customer did not have a mask. I left feeling uncomfortable and badly about the whole situation.

I have had over 20 frames made by this establishment and everytime with every piece they have gone above and beyond as far as quality and workmanship is concerned at a reasonable price. I would not go anywhere else. If you want cheaper quality Michael's would be the place to go

Prices are the best in the area. Customer service by Mario is always outstanding. I've had all my framing needs done here for over 15 years!

These guys are great. Fair prices, quick service. I walked in with an order for four custom mirrors, they turned it around within a week.
