Stopped by several times and called for weeks to try and bring a firearm in for repair. Nobody is ever there, and nobody ever picks up the phone. Finally stopped in when someone was there and was treated as if I was trespassing. I didn’t even bother bringing up the firearm I need repaired. Shop is full of junk. After reading other reviews of people being without their firearms for months and years only to get unrepaired guns back. This isn’t a business, it’s an erratic hobby.

Do not bring your gun here! In early October I brought my gun into Spooner Firearm Co to get my barrel refinished. When I brought my barrel in, I was quoted 3-4 weeks at the max to complete this project. After 4 weeks I tried calling in to the shop which I received no answer and could not leave a voicemail. I tried calling back several times throughout the week with no luck getting an answer or a call back. Because I could not get a hold of him via the phone, I went in the store towards the end of November. At that time, I was told my gun would be done in early December. I went in early December and was told my gun still was not finished and would probably be a couple weeks. I tried calling several times before Christmas and once again never received an answer or a call back. I am a college student, and did not have a car on campus after the Christmas break. Because I still could not get a hold of him, I took and Uber to his store. When I arrived, I was told that my gun barrel was at his house. He told me he would bring it the next and would call to let me know it was at the shop. Because I did not have a car, I reluctant to ger a ride over again until I had heard that it was done. I had an attorney send a letter informing him to contact me be certain date and return my gun immediately. He never responded. On February 3, because I had my car at school, I was able to drive to his shop. He had my gun there at that time. When I confronted him about my concerns, the lack of communication and responsiveness, he told me that I was to blame for his lack of communication. He stated he never received the letter from my attorney. Rather than being apologetic, he was hostile toward me and then told me that because I involved an attorney, he would only release my gun back to me if I paid cash and threatened to charge me more than what he estimated. There were so many red flags about this guy and his operation. The place is filled with too much stuff, there is not organization and the problemed seemed to worsen since the first time arrived at his shop. Also, after looking at his past reviews I saw numerous reviews that were similar to my experience. The only way you should take your gun to this place, is if you do not care how long it takes to fix and if you don’t care that he will never answer the phone, return a call, will never call you to say your gun is done and will not open his mail. Save yourself the headache and find a more reputable place.

This fella has no business being in business. but hey if you want to pay twice the price for 1/4 the quality I still wouldn’t advise it. Don’t trust guns from here he is an amateur gunsmith and rushes through all of his jobs. No quality or craftsmanship.

Do not do business here, terrible back of a gunsmith and bad with business.
Had my shotgun for over 9 months, whenever I called it was always the next thing he was doing, the parts were always going to be here tomorrow.

In the end he did not send it to manufacturer to be fixed correctly and instead did a back job and drilled a through hole into the receiver.

When I showed up to finally pick it up it was laying in pieces and he couldn't find where he put the barrel nut for 45 min.

My rifle’s action was locked up. It was an old Remington woods master in .280 Remington. They were honest with me that it would take some time to fix consider new parts are not regularly made and must be custom ordered. Despite it be a it being such a non-standard job he was willing to answer any questions I had on the status of my order. he also provided me with information that I didn’t not request, but needed to know for it to last. It took nearly a year to fix, but all things considered I am satisfied.

When big box stores couldn't get me what I needed, Spooner Firearm Co. made it happen. The gentleman that helped me made the transfer a breeze.

I wouldn't recommend doing business with this shop. After agreeing upon doing some work for me (removing a muzzle brake), there was a miscommunication about how the work was to be done. After that got resolved, I was given a specific time frame for the work to be done. A full week after that time frame went by, I still had heard nothing. I stopped in to check on the status, and was informed that they hadn't completed the work. I elected to have them return my property and find someone else to finish the work. However, I was informed that I must pay $30 (shop minimum fee) for the attempts they made to remove the muzzle device, or that they would put a lien on my property before release to the Sheriff's Department for auction. I was informed that they kept records of the work they did (including date and time) on their work ticket, but refused to allow me to get a full copy of the ticket, or to review their documentation that showed the dates and times they attempted to remove the muzzle device. I was told conflicting information about what type of techniques they used to remove the muzzle device.

I paid the $30 in order to get my property returned to me. All I was given was a work order receipt stamped "paid" and a copy of the front of the work ticket(no copy of the back, which I was told showed the dates and times they worked on my project)

All in all, I'm not satisfied with the service provided. Apparently them recovering $30 for an incomplete job (that was overdue) is worth far more than a satisfied customer and repeat business.

On a positive note, they're quick to answer phones, their custom rifles look great, and they seem very knowledgeable about their craft, just unfortunately I didn't have a great experience. Your mileage may vary.

Took 3 years, to fix 2 guns. One still did not work and he charged me. The other was over double what he expected. Called and stopped by multiple times he would make up some lie about them being done next week. Go anywhere else!!!
