Prices are ridiculous! The store is dirty and dusty, like there is never any wiping down of anything. The man there was rude, and seemed bothered being there, it made me very uncomfortable. I bought a pj set, sizes of top and bottom didnt match. Cutest quaint neighborhood with unfriendly people.

Stay away from this place! Went today at 11am to buy some water, groceries, charcoal etc. There was short, old guy who clearly didn’t want us (even before us saying a word). He did not respond to our ‘hello’ and bluntly said ‘what are you here for?’. I was so shocked that I didn’t know how to react. When my buddy, a fishing enthusiast, politely asked if there are any nice places to fish around Phoenicia- his answer was even more astonishing. He goes - ‘you need a license and we don’t give them anymore. Also, there is no fish’. That was enough for us (clearly we know the laws and had purchased required resident fishing permit and access permits in advance). Needless to say, we do not belong to his ethnicity/race but cannot blame ourselves for his prejudice, ignorance, and insecurity. We quickly bolted and purchased our groceries from a neighboring store (the lady was way nicer and kinder).

I hope the owner of this place and law enforcement take notice of this individual. I have seen other reviews suggesting similar experiences- perhaps the owner is complicit with this ‘branding’. There is no place for this type of behavior in this day and age - so please take your business elsewhere as clearly they do want our money.

Sadly this experience left a bad taste in otherwise a fabulous vacation - Doesn’t portray a good picture of such a wonderful vacation destination and nice local folks.

Phoenicia Farmers Market on Sundays is excellent!! We’ve got a lot of great stuff. Mushrooms were amazing, greens very fresh, we’ll have to come back to the vendor who sold onion rolls, Indian sauces from Calcutta Kitchens are so yummy!

Outdated store with questionable inventory. Bought these items today, 2/24/24. Both of them are expired. Go to the IGA in Boiceville instead. They have a great selection of fresh food.

Kind of steep prices (I understand the location), but not a lot of variety in supplies or goods that are needed 🙁

This was a great place to stop on the last day of a camping trip at Kaaterskill Falls. The chicken I had packed went bad since my friend forgot to refresh the ice in the cooler and I had remembered seeing this place in Phonecia so we headed down and got everything we needed to make a last minute dinner for four. The cashier was friendly and the prices weren't bad for a place out in the mountains. When I've ran into a similar situation in the PA mountains usually food is way more expensive than where I live.

Why hasn't this place been shut down? It is clear from the reviews that the guy literally sets prices based on the customer's race.

Horrible experience. We parked and a nasty old man came out and yelled at us that we couldn’t park there. We told him we were stopping in the store to which he replied that the he was going to call the tow truck. There are no other markets in Phoenicia so we still went in for a few things despite the shockingly rude and agressive man. This store is covered in dust, filthy, with expired products and no prices. It is worth driving to one of the many local farm stores or further to a grocery store to avoid this terrible place. The man made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome despite otherwise lovely encounters with locals. Shut this place down !!
