Unfortunately, my initial experience in this story (Christmas Eve day) was horrible. The greeter at the door was a sullen, attitudinal young woman who, when I asked what her name was, she asked me why do I need to know her name...and when I said I was just trying to make conversation, she said, "you don't need to my name" and went back to looking at her phone! And this is the greeter? I reported her to a lady at the check-out counter named Alice (who said she was one of the supervisors on duty), who said she appreciated me reporting my experience, but also said that the holidays are not good for everyone, and the young greeter may be having a bad day. I understand this, but then pull her away from the door! I don't know what happened after I left, but the young greeter wouldn't even look at me as I left and told her to have a blessed day.

I read another reviewer's poor review of this place and she stated that her ethnicity may have had something to do with it. I don't know, but I do know that I'm a 6'1" black man who didn't see any other people of color in the store (coincidence?), but I do know I was prepared to spend a substantial sum in this store because I'm a last minute shopper AND my wife and I were staying in the Crystal Pier cottages (which we come down from LA every year for Christmas) and wanted to decorate extensively for our new grandchild. I don't need to state the sum I as prepared to spend that day, but I'm confident that they did not receive the business of a top 5% spender/customer they would have had for the entire holiday season just because they chose a surly, sulky, morose, and grumpy antisocial greeter to receive people into their store.

Please remember first impressions are incredibly important, and no one owes you their business. I pray this was a one-off, and this is my personal experience. I will not patronize their establishment with my hard-earned income to enhance their coffers that further finance their amazing products but poor customer service choices.

What a fab selection of gifts, clothes, jewelry etc, and many are handmade. Leave extra time to make sure you get around the whole store. I got a beautiful necklace made by moms in North Carolina.

This was the ultimate consignment / retail store I've been to!

From old records to custom clothing, this place had it all.

Definitely worth wasting a few minutes in just to pass the time, but be warned you will end up buying something, there's just so much good stuff.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

I bought a necklace 2 days ago and it broke so I went in there and asked for an even exchange or at least something else that won't break I was told that it was supposed to be strong and it won't break finally they called the owner the owner said the sale is final so I had no choice but to buy the second pair I was going to buy the second pair but instead I thought I'd ask for a discount considering instead of backing up their merchandise they laughed at me they ridiculed me they called me names they were very rude and unprofessional and they did not sell me the merchandise because they all took it personally these people are prejudice they were looking at the color of my skin they judged my personality and made sure that they exercise there authority towards me I'm a consumer that they took for granted if you ask me it's very un American of them to treat a fellow citizen it's embarrassing if you shop at this place I won't stop you think about me and how they treated me and it was wrong that's not how you treat a 60-year-old desert Storm veteran at home considering what comes around goes around there is a new sheriff in town and her name is karma she knows what to do with this establishment and they will pay

This store is awesome for fun gifts and clothing. It’s multiple stores in one and they have plenty to choose from for both men and women. I’d highly suggest swinging through and checking out all this store has to offer. Great clothing, random gifts, books, plants, you name it. They always have new stuff too. Parking can be tough because it’s on garnet Ave but during the week no problem. You might spend a little more money but it’s worth it.

Pangaea Outpost was an interesting find during our visit to Pacific Beach San Diego area. It’s basically a ginormous group of Boutiques under one roof. I loved the idea of shopping in so many boutiques all at the same time. However, the only problem was there were way too many items I wanted to see prices for on items inside locked cabinets in tons of different fixtures set throughout the establishment among the different boutiques. I had a really hard time finding someone to help me track down the keys to all the many cases I wanted to look inside. I had to just decide not to look at some pieces. It wasn’t the easiest shopping experience. Aside from that I felt the staff was friendly & helpful, they even wrapped my gifts ? But had I not opened them when I returned home prior giving them to my friends they would have received the presents I bought w/the price tags still on them. They’d blacked out the $ amount on 1 side but forgot to check the opposite side. At any rate I caught the problem on the most important present so it was fine. My favorite part of shopping Pangaea was the jewelry selection in natural stones, the $’s were fantastic. It was also a short walk from our hotel so that was convenient as well. I have respect for the artisans who sell their work here I felt it is a great showcase for all types of retail. Thank You Pangaea for a unique shopping experience!?

I came with a beach bag (because there is a beach close with a store) and they didn’t allow me to get in the store,they said i can leave my bag at the register,and take all my stuff with me!that is insane!

This is one of our favorite stores in the area. They always have tons of unique, cool stuff. A great place for gift buying. One of those stores you can spend an hour in, and then come back the next day to see some more.
