Maybe 2 months ago I was inspired to casually get pack into collecting Pokémon cards. I did as a card and gave them away later, and I wanted to start fresh now. Over the Top started as the convenient location as it was on the way from work to home, but quickly they sealed my loyalty. The employers are super friendly, and I frequently end up chatting for ~20 minutes about various topics. I have come to learn unfortunately that right now is a hard time to get into Pokémon card trading as scalpers and resellers have been creating artificial scarcity and driving up prices. Over the Top Games has somehow managed to create their own bubble where casual collectors like me are still able to get even the rare packs at incredibly reasonable prices. I don’t have to break the bank like I would going pretty much anywhere else. My day is always better after stopping here, and I plan on coming back at least once every week for my routine packs to treat myself. Great products, great prices, even better people!

Went down tonight to check it out for the first time. Store was super clean with a lot of accessories, singles, and sealed products. The two guys working behind the counter were friendly and attentive.

Best thing for me is the inventoried singles, gentleman was able to pull up what I was looking for told me it was in stock and the price. Made buying super smooth and easy instead of just hoping it was in the case.

Would highly recommend it to anyone in the area, I'll be stopping by the next time I need to build a new deck.

I left the review for bad customer service because dismissing the fair market value of an item and insisting on paying an unreasonably low price isn’t just about pricing—it’s about respect and professionalism in a transaction. A good customer or business should be willing to negotiate in good faith, not just dictate terms based on their own cost. The interaction felt dismissive and one-sided, which is why I considered it poor customer service.

Over The Top Games is the best game store that I've regularly attended since I got into the hobby ~10 years ago. Steve, the owner, is friendly and professional and has a great rapport with the regulars. The rest of the store staff are similarly helpful and welcoming. The shop is clean, organized, and a pleasant place to spend time gaming.

I mainly play Star Wars Unlimited there, and they've done a fantastic job of supporting the community as the game has grown over the past year; hosting casual nights every Wednesday and slightly more competitive events on Sunday afternoons. I always look forward to coming into the shop on those days, especially if we're drafting.

As far as pricing on singles goes, I've always been given a fair deal, and it's very nice to not have to go through the hassle of waiting for cards to come in from TCGPlayer from a dozen different sellers when I'm filling out cards for a new set. Sealed product is also fairly priced, and trade-in value is better than a lot of other shops I've visited. While I haven't interacted with them as much, there are lots of other games supported there, including Pokémon, Magic, and Lorcana. Not to mention the shelves of board games, sleeves, deck boxes, and other accessories.

Overall I cannot recommend this store enough, whether you're just looking to stop in and buy some cards or participate in the awesome community this place has fostered!

Sold some MTG cards here recently. The owner (I'm guessing) was super friendly and transparent about everything. Very quick and easy. Any future TCG business will be conducted here!

Owner/staff are rude to anyone that's not playing tournaments. As a buyer you're usually standing at the register waiting on an employee to ring you up, and are always met with annoyance. Stopped to grab a small handful of singles, while staff is cutting up with their regulars the employee let me know they were closing and I needed to hurry if I wanted to buy anything. Might be fine to go play cards there, but the place is junk if you're there just to buy. Def lost a customer that's been spending a few hundred monthly with em today.

As mentioned by a previous review, buyers stick to trademart. Been going there for a decade, tried this place, and will definitely recommend trademart over this dump. They have variety that dwarfs OOT's very limited English only product, sealed prices are leagues better, and they will take the time for a sale. I've had trademart putting lots together for me 20 min after closing because I was grabbing so much.

Main takeaway though, get better customer service, stop treating the shop like your lil clubhouse with your tourney players, and acting annoyed anytime someone comes in to actually buy something.

My sons and I really enjoy going to Over The Top Games in Moline, Illinois. Great spot for Pokemon cards, one of our local spots we hunt at. Today these were a couple of our Astral Radiance cards we picked up towards the set. The employees are always friendly even with newbies like myself! Stop in and check them out!
