This is my favorite game store and really my favorite store to visit in general. The staff are always courteous, welcoming, and helpful. Their prices are also very fair so you can support your local game store while purchasing at prices competitive with online sellers. If you are into Dungeons and Dragons, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, painting or collecting miniatures, board games, etc., you should definitely give Matrix Cards & Games a try.

My son recently had a birthday here, and it was nothing short of amazing! Drew and Ansle were the Pokémon Professors who led the 11 children through a complete course of how to play the game, all while having amazing energy and being GREAT with the kids! We had the game room for two hours, and the pricing was EXTREMELY affordable. We were able to bring in our own food and drinks. The atmosphere was perfect, they even put on a Pokémon chill playlist that was fitting for the party. My son had the best birthday ever, and the main reason was because we chose Matrix. We will be coming back OFTEN! Thanks Drew and Ansle!!!!!

This place is great! Alan and his wife are so kind and generous with their time and knowledge. The selection is well curated and diverse, games, RPGs, supplemental materials, miniatures, paint and modeling supplies, dice, collectible card games and so much more. I grew up going to comic and game stores, this place is a slice of nerd nostalgia and it's served up with an ample dose of kindness and an earnest desire to help you enjoy a game or hobby. They offer a variety of discounts on items to allow for closer to Amazon pricing but honestly I would gladly pay full boat for the experience and customer service. Thank you for being part of the community and sharing so many cool things with us all.

Update 2024
Alan and Terri sold to an amazing couple, Drew and Kaylee. They kept all the amazing customer service and engagement and added new flare with a new website, a discord server and new events. I cannot say enough how lucky our town is to have entrepreneurs who care about the community and their business.

Update late 2024
Drew and Kaylee bought a store. For all intents and purposes that store is gone and in it's place a bustling hub of camaraderie has been formed. Every evening people from so many backgrounds gather there and play games and laugh and enjoy each other's company. Instead of what is seen often in other places in public more often than not phones are missing, conversations flow, and relationships flourish.

Absolutely the best card shop in Redding CA. I went and sold my magic cards to them and they gave me a fantastic price for them. They also have an amazing selection of pretty much anything you can think of from warhammer to cards to D&D. They are extremely fair with the prices. Cannot stress how much i would recommend them enough.

Absolute 5 star. I was able to order over the phone, as I don't live anywhere near them. I bought some OP packs, and the packaging was amazing. The packs were put in solid plastic boxes, which are reusable, and completely protect the packs. This is my first order, but I will be a returning customer as often as possible. Amazing customer service, and Drew, the owner, is a really nice dude. Highly recommend.

Employees don't work wanna be there. I can't stand when employees know you need help, ask if you need help, then continue to not help. 20 minutes I waited for the apparently only 1 person who could help me. After 20 minutes later she just leaves the room! Doesn't say anything to me, doesn't even acknowledge me. I asked another employee if I should just leave. "I'll go get her" he says like IM annoying him. These guys are sitting down playing with toys and cards and give attitude when you want help? Gamestop employees are better. Somehow

Edit: gave all my cards to goodwill. No need to come back. And I never will. You can blame that lazy guy sitting at your register doing nothing but checking his phone and watching the other employee do all the work, until it was my turn of course.

Above and beyond customer service!

I looked various places locally for a new TCG I was excited about playing. No one had it, but Matrix recognized my excitement and went absolutely above and beyond to special order it for me. They jumped through many hoops to make it happen and I am eternally grateful. A store who truly cares about their customers and what interests them makes for happy and loyal customers. I cannot recommend Matrix enough!
