!!!SELLER BEWARE!!! I took some old school Pokemon cards here and the owner offered me $75 for my Charizard and my other 43 halo’s and even said my Charizard was “damaged” so I took it to another shop and I ended up selling 10 halo’s for $250 and they immediately offered $250 for my “damaged” charizard they said $250 is what a PSA 5 Charizard of that year is selling for but told me if he was me he would have it sent off to get graded cause he believes it would come back much higher then a PSA 5. So think twice before you take your “damaged” cards here and let them tell you ther worthless

Hi, I'm your secret shopper—here's how you did: One star for operating a small business, its challenging work. One star for being a store that creates a safe space for us dorks to play games. One star for the red-haired gentleman who is always great with customers. Minus one star for the seemingly drunk and obnoxiously loud person doing some kind of online auction in a back room who interrupted the red-haired gentleman and I—while we were conducting business—with some grief saying it was "his fault" about a phone that "loud mouth" needed that wasn't charged. Minus one star for the Foundations draft we had last night that didn't give out prizes for those that won their matches (i.e., why even play?). My unsolicited advice is: 1) make sure "loud mouth" is sober when he comes to work and/or sound-proof that room he's in, and 2) go participate in one of Gaming Guild's Prerelease events since they do a better job running those—I was there the night before I came to Main Phase One, and it was a "night and day" experience playing Prerelease events at each of these businesses. Again, running a business is challenging work, I wish you the best and hope this review helps.

I went in with the intention of purchasing a Magic deck for my husband as a birthday gift. I do not play and have minimum knowledge. The employees were super helpful, asked me questions about my husband to try to better understand his preferences, explained how the decks I was looking at would work with what he had, and were very kind overall. My husband LOVES his new Doctor Who deck! I'm sure we (likely my husband) will be back to browse and possibly play.

The owner cares about his players, and goes out of his way to make the best experience we could ask for. Also actually listens to their player base. Provides a great playing environment, and has fair prices. It's a great place for veteran and new players for all kinds of tabletop, and card games.

I want to do my best to support LGS, but I also gotta be honest: I walked in here on a Saturday, saying the phrase "I'm buying my first Magic deck" and within three sentences the person at the register had already quipped something negative about the specific deck I was talking about buying.

"I don't think the Doctor Who decks really fit with Magic, but they bring in a lot of money..."

They didn't know I'd spent several hours researching and knew exactly what I was buying, down to the price, but I can only imagine how I'd have felt if I knew NOTHING about Magic besides wanting to play with my friends and my literal first experience is someone talking trash about the fact an incredibly popular (and, frankly, logical choice that thematically fits in fun ways) sci-fi property did FOUR commander decks, including reprints of beloved cards that people WANTED reprinted.

Ignoring this one instance, I also take issue with the fact that nothing in the store is priced. It takes maybe one shift of having someone load up a $50 price sticker gun and go nuts. I fully understand not pricing something like the entire wall of Dragon Shield sleeves, as that's $13. Everyone knows it's going to be about $13 to $15 bucks, and its an incredibly common thing.

But the little stack of playmats on the top shelf I might've bought? Deck boxes? I do not feel like loading up an armload of things and make a cashier scan every item, tell me the price, then I decide if I want it or if it needs to be put back on the shelf.

I don't want Evansville to be a city where there's one defacto LGS and everything fades away. It's cool as heck that this place has such a selection they managed to grab a bunch of not-as-popular TCGs like the PR-besot Metazoo. Just know if you're not 100% sure what you're buying before you step in, just know if you're of the neurodivergent flavor where asking tons of questions is stressful, it might be best to go in during the week as it seems weekends might be a little strained/feature less-seasoned staff.

I have been to the shop twice, and both times it was a great experience. The owner is a cool guy and he is pretty generous with tournament prizing. I can’t wait to see the upstairs play space when its finished!
