Healthy Horizons is a great place to get lactation help and they have such cute clothing as well .... have to remember to stop here for the next baby shower! I am writing this review because Sheila Janakos doesn't just help new parents in her store/lactation support center but she is also a generous soul who helps the community. I have been on the board of a nonprofit for 32 years now called Nursing Mothers Counsel which provides free lactation support via phone with volunteers trained in lactation and counseling support. We are a great back up source for parents who may not need the expert support that Sheila and her IBCLC staff provide, or who are in need of support after business hours.

We are so grateful to Healthy Horizons for donating 4 Medela Symphony Pumps to NMC for use as grant rentals for low income families we serve. This substantial donation will certainly help many low income families in the Bay Area and Santa Cruz County. Sheila has remained an affiliate member of our small non-profit and supported NMC with donations throughout her many years associated with our organization. I don't like to think what my breastfeeding journey would have looked like had I not had the wonderful help and guidance I received from Erin, Maggie and Sheila. I will never forget laying in the hospital, recovering from my C-section, while my husband sat across from me reading aloud an email from Sheila who had replied to our request for help on a Sunday evening. I had been dealing with a lot of breastfeeding pain. Once I was out of the hospital and back at home, Erin made visits and helped me and my baby to thrive in our breastfeeding journey. Months later, Maggie became a great help and advisor when my baby went through a "nursing strike" stage - something I'd never even heard of before. We persisted, and my baby came back around. The next hurdle was the taxing frequency of nighttime feeds and wake-ups. Sheila was able to give me some helpful suggestions for this. At every stage, these ladies personalized my care and always made me feel heard, safe and comforted.

I found out about Healthy Horizons per recommendation from our pediatrician. I was having terrible pain everytime I breastfed my son for 4 weeks and saw Maggie for lactation consultation and it completely changed my life. I thought breastfeeding was just painful but turns out I had a yeast infection in my milk ducts from my symptoms. I am so happy I found this place! I come here often for products, advice, and to weigh my son (they have a scale you can use). Thank you for all your help 🙂

So sad to be writing this because I’m sure the store itself is great but this pertains to the experience I had and the lack of empathy and customer service. I called ahead of time to make sure they had the product I needed for a itch condition I’ve had since pregnancy and I was in luck it was in stock. I confirmed that they closed at 4 and after feeding my newborn and getting us ready for the drive we prepared ourselves for the 40+ min drive. When I got there about 8 min before closing to my surprise they had already left for the day! What a bummer and all that effort and the hour+ it took for travel round trip (not to mention gas) all for not. So I called the next day and explained what had happened and all I got was a mediocre apology. The sales associate said I could place my order online and I asked if shipping could be waived due to the unfortunate circumstances and again nothing. I had hoped for better customer service and help for new moms but I guess not. I hope no other new mamas out there have this experience!

The lactation consult that we did with Maggie was a complete game changer. At the hospital two lactation consultants were not able to help us and my little one was not latching at all. With only one consult, Maggie was able to tell us what we're doing wrong and gave us excellent advise. After that, baby latched without a problem

The staff at Healthy Horizons are amazing and very knowledgeable. Answered a lot of my questions about the medela pump and stayed back after hours so that I could pick up my order late since I could not make it time and needed it right away.
