My buddy and I just came here for our first games of Warhammer 40k.
Gabriel and Jared working the counter were so nice. Gabriel linked us up with a couple of employees: Bruno and Chase.
Bruno and Chase were so amazing! They were in the middle of a match but let us jump in, stopped everything to patiently explain the rules to us. It was great!

By far the best Local Game Store in Sacramento. Big location. Super friendly and approachable staff. Each a gamer themselves. They host gaming events daily, ranging from MTG, SW Legion, D&D to massive 40k tournaments and even a Chess night. Giant gaming area for these events. They even have occasional swap meets. I feel blessed to have them right here in Sacramento, plus, they have a second location in Rocklin. Open your imagination, Roll Initiative and get in there!

If youre into wargaming, board games, or trading card games, this store has everything you need. Lots of citadel and army painter paints and plenty of basing materials as well. I have not played here personally but they have a huge area for playing all of the game types stated above. Its fun to just walk around and see what they have in stock too.

Only slightly annoyed that as a veteran, I get a 10% discount, but i dont earn shop rewards because of the discount policy. Otherwise, the shop itself is very professional, it's selections are large, offer an ordering system for things not in their selection, and the available game space they offer is both large and welcoming.

Incredibly grateful for the space and community this shop provides. They reward gms who run organized play events at their shop, and you can always find something cool to check out on their calendar. It's clear from the bustling weekday evenings, the big stack of store games ready to play, and the fastidiously updated monthly calendar, that creating a space to gather and enjoy hobbies is a huge priority for this business.

The selection is incredible, and I often leave having bought something cool I didn't know about going in. The staff here and at the Rocklin location is incredibly knowledgeable. I've come with questions about MANY different things, and they've always got an answer. If they don't have it, they know where to get it.

Really nice employees! I just got into Warhammer 40k and went here to buy paints. One of their employees, Bruno, was really nice and spent 15 minutes asking me questions and helping me pick out some paints to get started.

Super friendly staff bought some single Pokemon cards and a binder saw that they have a rewards program and just knew I had to sign up ASAP they are amazing this will forever be my new game shop definitely recommend it!!

I am a true and utter noob to the world of miniature war gaming and the fine folks at Great Escape have been really great to interact with!
I made the mistake of buying a starter set thing on Amazon and some of the pieces arrived broken, so I strongly urge everyone to avoid the evils of the omni globocorp and shop local at Great Escape! I have had no such issues with the items purchased here, so lesson learned.
I am very excited for when I actually have my minis painted and can begin playing and can't wait to come use their space and make some friends! They have a ton of table space and terrain and it is my understanding there are people who will help teach you how to play on certain nights. I could be wrong so don't quote me, but it's pretty cool if I'm not!
