Delicious gelato in Manhattan Beach!

This place has a huge selection of flavors. Samples are welcome! We tried a ton of different options before deciding. The staff is very friendly and super helpful. We had a large group come in, and they were so patient with us!

The gelato tastes so good! Everyone in our group loved it and their flavors. You get a waffle cone wafer with your gelato, which is a nice touch.

Definitely recommend stopping in. Not often you find a good gelato spot - you won't regret coming here!

So many vegan options! I'm allergic to dairy, so I get stuck with sorbet, but not here! I got biscotti vegan sorbet. Super creamy and delicious. They have an entire section of vegan options. Like 8 flavors to choose! If you sit on the bench outside, you get an ocean view too! Lady who works there is super sweet too!

Best gelato in the South Bay, everything homemade! Huge selection of vegan and regular flavors. And for German tourists, they have Spaghetti-Eis, since the owners are Italian-German 🙂

Henry’s Take, Takes L.A.!
Part 1

Pretty catchy slogan, don’t you think? We haven’t launched a new series in a while and we are indebted to @1ehernandez for his creative suggestion for this series (and also for branding it).

So where does one begin in the “City of Angels?” While there are countless starting points available, we chose “Gelato and Angels.” It just makes sense, right?

Our Review Team brought with us the individual tastes of 8 varying palettes and yet no concerns were expressed about finding something to sample. In keeping with the L.A. theme I went with the “La Brea Tarpits” flavor and I never found myself hopelessly “stuck” in a cavity of flavorlessness. 😉

In addition to the other impressive selection of flavors I was surprised by their offering of no less than a dozen Vegan flavors.

Although I didn’t try these items, my imagination was captured by their “Donut Gelato Sandwich” and their “Spaghetti Sundae.” Not brave enough to try them mind you, but intrigued nonetheless.

And that’s…Henry’s Take.

Really wide variety of super unique flavors, friendly staff who let you try plenty of flavors before making a choice, and great sizing options - you can even get a kids size and still do 2 flavors half/half side by side. I highly recommend the cookie crazy flavor, and California strawberry chocolate chip. Lavender honey is a unique one but I wouldn’t want a whole cone of it. They also have a ton of sorbet options for the lactose free. Not much seating beyond 2 tables but you can eat outside of course.

When you're a gelato place in a beach side town, you need to get it right. That may put you in the Kanye-new-album pressure, but at $7.50 for 2 scoops, you gotta hit it out of the park.
This place bunts.
The test of great gelato is the daily free (ie sorbetto) chocolate and lemon. Get these right, and you know flavour and texture, and the rest is easy...well...lemon squeezy I guess. Sadly, here it's more testical squeezy. They both have the chalky texture of dry putty; flying off the spoon like a slingshot. Dairy free doesn't mean you don't get a great, creamy texture. Not so here. The density is all wrong, and the mouth feel is exactly like eating snow...compacted snow. The taste is even more disappointing. Chocolate sorbetto can have an intensity that makes you feel like you can't eat a whole serve, but simultaneously die for more. Here, it's like one of those don't hot chocolates you make with water. The lemon too misses the characteristic acid and rind that can take this stalwart to ethereal heights.
Sadly this Angel don't soar.

Delicious ice cream. Great customer service. I didn't like the ice cream I got when I tasted it and they changed it for a different one free of charge. A+++

Location is awesome - very near the beach. It is one of the good gelato walking distance to the beach.

But the quality of gelato is not good at-least by LA standards. For example …”baccio de latte” gelato or even Eately gelato is much better. 10 mins drive you have “gelato-go el sugando”which is much better than this.

I have never thrown a gelato. I had to throw the coconut one.

They write “ingredients imported from Italy” but when I asked they said it’s only a few.

I tried dark chocolate and coconut. Next time I will stick to dark chocolate.
