What an awesome store that was much needed in the Yuba-Sutter area. With their refurbishing process it feels like you’re buying a brand new game or console. I’ve traded in many games here and the offers for my trade ins have always been very very fair as to compared to other video game stores in the Sac/Roseville area. The staff have always been very friendly and professional with a lot of knowledge about video games. I know when I purchase here if I have any issues with anything they will fix the problem since they offer warranty. They’ve always been kind and patient with my kids and always answer the millions of questions they have. It’s been cool being able to purchase retro video games here and show my sons what I use to play as a kid.

I love this place! Good supply, reasonable prices, and the employees are very nice and welcoming. Just looking around is enough of an experience. And buying their products feels rewarding with their free warranties. Give them some love. Gamers Life rules.

The person at the counter didn't acknowledge my existence at all or even give a friendly greeting as I stood in the store browsing the selection. The prices are well over the estimated value of the games themselves. Did some basic eBay and other game store searches on my phone for a few titles and this shop looked to be 10-25% mark-up from the real value. Wouldn't recommend.

I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this card shop. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the customer service was not a priority. The employees were rude and dismissive, barely acknowledging my presence as I browsed through their shelves. When I asked a few basic questions about the products they carried, I was met with condescending responses, as if I was wasting their time.

But the worst part came when I noticed the prices. This place is ridiculously overpriced—by a lot. I understand that some shops mark up their products, but this was borderline extortion. The prices on their cards were easily 30-40% higher than any other store or online marketplace, and when I inquired about why they were so expensive, the employee gave me a vague and unconvincing excuse. When I asked for a price match or any sort of discount, I was met with eye rolls and outright lies. The employee tried to tell me that the higher price was justified because their cards were ā€œhand-selectedā€ and ā€œauthentic.ā€ I'm pretty sure that’s just a fancy way of saying, ā€œWe charge whatever we want because we can.ā€

To make matters worse, the owner (or maybe the manager?) was even more arrogant when I confronted them about the pricing. They told me that ā€œpeople like meā€ wouldn’t understand the value of quality cards and that I should ā€œjust stick to buying onlineā€ if I didn’t want to pay premium prices. As if that wasn’t bad enough, when I politely asked for a return policy (in case the cards I was buying weren’t as described), they flat out lied to me, saying they had a no-questions-asked return policy. Of course, when I tried to return an item the next day, they gave me the runaround, claiming that their policy was actually more complicated and I couldn’t return anything unless it was unopened.

In summary, this card shop is a scam. The prices are a ripoff, the staff is rude and unprofessional, and they have zero regard for customer satisfaction. I left feeling completely taken advantage of and swore I would never come back. There are plenty of other card shops out there that offer fair pricing and treat their customers with respect. Avoid this place at all costs—save yourself the frustration and the money.

I recently visited a so-called "retro video game store," and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. First off, the store's owner seemed to know very little about the games they were selling. I was hoping to get some help identifying a few rare titles, but the owner could barely provide any useful information, offering vague responses when asked about certain games or consoles.

it also didnt help that almost none of the games had prices and if you ask they look up an arbitrary value on ebay. diffrent to the same game everytime you ask. so if i walk in monday they say a gameboy is 150$ the next day itll be 160$ ? what kind of price gouging is that.

the store owner attemped to claim the games were worth so much cause he graced it with his mighty hands. as if him fixing it made the original xbox worth 70$ more than the market value.

To make matters worse, the pricing was absurd. The store was charging nearly double what most retro games typically go for, even for well-known, common titles. It was clear that the owner was attempting to take advantage of customers who weren't familiar with the market. For example, a copy of Super Mario World for the SNES was priced at $80—far above the average going rate. I understand the occasional markup for rarity or condition, but there was no justification for such high prices on basic games in decent condition.

The store itself was disorganized, with games scattered all over the place in no particular order. It was difficult to find anything, and the overall atmosphere felt unprofessional and chaotic. The owner’s lack of enthusiasm or passion for the products they were selling was also evident. It seemed like a business solely focused on making a quick profit, rather than providing a true service for retro gaming enthusiasts.

I would strongly recommend avoiding this place. If you’re looking for quality retro games, there are many other stores and online retailers that offer better prices, selection, and customer service. This store simply isn’t worth your time or money.

I prefer spending my hard earned money at a local shop where I'm treated like a fellow gamer, and not just a financial number on some spreadsheet.

GamerLife is outfitted with all the retro consoles, games, and even the accessories you'll need to get things working properly. They sell newer titles as well, which is a plus.

This local shop can even clean your old-school consoles.

Whenever I plan on purchasing anything game related, I will go directly to GamerLife because their customer service is friendly, talkative, and welcoming. I don't think I will ever need to shop anywhere else, ever again.

Extremely overpriced, specially on pokemon cards.
Owner says the prices are based on the market, but is charging 20% higher than other card shops I’ve been to.
On ETB’s I saw it was $15-$50 more expensive here than other shops.
Insane pricing, if you drive to any other shop you’ll save money

GamerLife is a retro gaming paradise, and Robbie, the owner, makes it an even better experience! As soon as I walked in, I was transported back to my childhood. The shelves are stocked with everything from vintage consoles to hard-to-find games, all organized in a way that makes browsing a breeze.

Robbie's passion for retro gaming really shines through. He's not just selling games--he's preserving a piece of gaming history. He's incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely loves to share stories, tips, and recommendations. Whether you're a casual gamer or a serious collector, Robbie goes above and beyond to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

What I love most about GamerLife is the welcoming atmosphere. You can tell Robbie has built a community here--it's a place where fellow gamers can gather, talk shop, and connect over shared memories. Plus, the prices are fair, and the quality of everything is top-notch.

If you're into retro gaming or just want to experience some nostalgia, GamerLife is a must-visit. Robbie's enthusiasm and customer service make it an unforgettable shopping experience. Will definitely be coming back for all my gaming needs!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
