I stand by my review, as it accurately reflects my experience. As noted, my comments did not pertain to the store’s inventory or the sales associate, who was indeed very helpful and spent considerable time with us. The focus was solely on the negative interaction with the manager, which now makes sense since you are also the owner.
I find it quite perplexing that a written request was necessary for a modest 10% discount, something that both the manufacturer and other local stores offer as standard practice. While this is your chosen business approach, I reserve the right to choose where I shop. If I can order directly from the manufacturer and have the item delivered to my home for the same price, it seems illogical and unreasonable to visit the store to pick it up. This perspective highlights a significant disconnect between the customer experience and your business model.
Furthermore, I mentioned that assembly was unnecessary for me, as my husband could easily handle it. I also noticed that you began packing another stroller before we had finished with it, which suggests a need for greater attentiveness to customers still making their decisions.
Nevertheless, I appreciate your store’s selection of these exceptional strollers. I was able to choose the exact model I loved and ordered it directly from the manufacturer with a 10% discount, receiving it in 3-5 days (contrary to the 5-10 days you mentioned) and benefiting from a lower tax rate. Should I need to explore more high-end items, I’ll be sure to visit your store first, though I may choose to order elsewhere subsequently.
Original Review
I had a deeply disappointing experience at Galt Baby this weekend. Ready to buy a stroller, I was met with exceptionally poor customer service that left me feeling terrible and very unwelcome.
The manager's behavior was particularly distressing. While I was still examining a stroller, she abruptly started packing it away before I was finished. A sales associate kindly inquired if I could receive a 10% discount to match the manufacturer’s offer, and although the manager agreed, she did so with evident reluctance and imposed several unreasonable conditions. She stated I wouldn't be able to return the stroller, it wouldn’t be delivered, and I would have to pick it up myself.
When I mentioned that another store in the city was willing to match the discount, the manager said she would email her representative at the manufacturer to complain about other stores matching these offers. This was information I didn’t need to know and only added to my frustration. Additionally, they tried to mislead me by claiming that if I ordered directly from the manufacturer, I would only receive a returned stroller, which is simply not true.
Feeling frustrated, I mentioned that I would just order online. At that point, the manager reluctantly agreed to match the online offer, but her previous attitude had already left me too upset to continue the transaction. When I said I would pass, she rudely confronted me, asking, "Why would I pass when she was matching the offer?" As a pregnant woman, I was not in a position to handle further confrontation, so I politely excused myself, stating that I needed to check with my husband.
This encounter was incredibly upsetting, especially because the store carries many baby items that I like.
I would not recommend Galt Baby to anyone based on the unprofessional and unwelcoming treatment I received.
