I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flea Street in Menlo Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the thoughtfully curated dishes to the warm ambiance, Flea Street delivered on all fronts, showcasing the best of California’s farm-to-table dining.

We started with a selection of small bites, beautifully presented on a wooden board. The whipped butter, arranged in delicate rosettes, was almost too pretty to eat, while the house-made bread and savory bites set a delightful tone for the meal.

The next dish was a crispy arancini served atop a creamy sauce, garnished with pomegranate seeds that added a pop of color and a hint of sweetness to balance the savory flavors. Each bite was rich and comforting, with a perfect contrast of textures.

Another highlight was a beautifully plated poached egg over a flaky pastry, a simple yet satisfying dish that emphasized fresh ingredients and skillful execution. The egg was cooked to perfection, adding a silky richness to the flaky base.

For the mains, we enjoyed a seared fish fillet atop a bed of orzo and fresh vegetables. The fish was cooked just right, with a crispy herb crust that added an aromatic layer to the dish. The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients were evident in every bite.

The braised beef with roasted carrots was another standout, tender and flavorful, with a rich sauce that complemented the sweetness of the carrots. It was a comforting, hearty dish that felt both rustic and refined.

We also ordered two drinks: the Modern Old Fashion (yes, it sounds funny—Modern yet Old!) and a Dirty Martini. The Modern Old Fashion was fantastic and clearly a specialty of the restaurant, with a perfect blend of flavors that elevated the classic cocktail. However, on the downside, the Dirty Martini was quite disappointing. Not only was the flavor way off, but they also served it with unpitted olives, which felt like an odd choice for a cocktail. While the olives weren’t the issue, we ended up returning the drink due to its overall taste.

Finally, we ended with a dessert that brought the meal to a satisfying close—a creamy, textured dish topped with crunchy chocolate bits, providing a lovely mix of flavors and textures.

Overall, Flea Street offers a wonderful dining experience with a focus on sustainability and local ingredients. Each dish felt thoughtful and well-executed, and the service was attentive and friendly. While the Dirty Martini fell short, the Modern Old Fashion and the exceptional food more than made up for it. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to enjoy innovative, seasonal cuisine in a cozy and elegant setting. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely dinner here for a special occasion. The staff was kind and attentive, and the owner greeted us warmly. The coctails were wonderful and inventive, with seasonally inspired ingredients. Many of their ingredients come fresh from their own garden. I had an excellent time here and highly recommend this place.

I can’t say enough about the superb service and quality of the food.
What a beautiful atmosphere.
The melt-in-your-mouth smoked trout with tzatziki sauce was out of this world!
The star of the night was the pork chop served over a delicate and delicious bed of risotto.
The rock fish with saffron sauce was to die for.
The drinks were amazing and had a beautiful presentation. Service was exceptional as ever.
Our servers, Angel, José, Alonso, Cristy, Julio and Eloy were very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The owner, Jesse came by our table and was genuinely interested in our comfort and well being. The desserts were also delicious!
10 out of 10 recommend!

I hadn't been in many years and went recently. Was very happy to see that the place hadn't changed. Delicious food and lovely ambiance. Very relaxing and laid back. Service is excellent. It's spendy but not crazy for the Bay Area. Nice special occasion restaurant.

Food was great! We loved every dish we ordered.
However, it did take a long time (~30 minutes) for us to get our bread after making our order ☹️

We have been coming to this restaurant since the late 90s. It has been consistently excellent and continues to be so. This latest time the service was very attentive, but a bit rushed. IMHO, they need to slow down and let people alone a bit, particularly on special occasions. Each water service is a small distraction, so I would recommend only refilling glasses when actually needed. But the food was excellent. Cocktails come with the complementary leftover in a small chilled bottle. 20% gratuity is included in bill, even if only 2 people are dining. Great place for special occasions as they keep bringing special off-menu items.

Delicious and creative dishes, and they were presented very prettily. Their butter looked amazing as well.

Service: 4/5
They ran out of the menu for that day, but it's not really their fault. The staff was very friendly and attentive

Ambiance/facility: 3/5
The overall vibe and decor was decent. My mom pointed out the unique overhead light, and my dad liked the artwork on the walls.

However, I was rather disappointed to find that there were no paper towels or any means to dry your hands in the bathroom. There was also a foul odor in the bar area right front of the bathroom (like somebody got sick and, you know, returned their dinner from their stomach.)
