My only advice is to stay far away from Children's Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham!! From start to finish, we received inadequate care. My son, Enoch Murphy, was transferred to the PICU for Renal Dialysis after the dialysis pumps in the NICU continuously kept malfunctioning over the course of a two week period; causing great distress to his body. The dialysis pumps were pulling off entirely too much fluid. The doctors and specialists were unable to get his fluid levels regulated. My son was then transferred to PICU to switch from the Aquadex Pump to the Prismax because the hospital staff was unable to figure out why their Aquadex Pumps were faulty and continued to malfunction. Enoch was overdosed and given 10x the correct dosage of medication shortly after being admitted to the PICU. He was overdosed on paralyzing medication; it took 16 hours after being overdosed for my son to be able to even wiggle his toes. 24 hours after the overdose, he finally was able to move his arms. He was paralyzed yet awake during the entire ordeal and in great pain. My son coded after he was overdosed by the nurse practitioner, and the medication was administered through the nurses without any sort of verification. Immediately after being overdosed, my son coded and went into cardiac arrest, suffering sufficient brain damage from the lack of oxygen. Sadly, my son was never the same after the overdose. Enoch passed away 11 days later due to complications with his heart; complications that occurred during the overdose. Before his transfer to the PICU, Enoch's ECHO Exam report was normal. He had two normal ECHO scans before he coded in the PICU. After being overdosed, the cardiologist said his heart was in great stress and inflamed. Do not recommend this facility!!! Unfortunately, this hospital is known for medical negligence.

Exceptional care from start to finish! Great facilities, wonderful and caring staff. If we were lost, employees immediately helped us find our way. The campus is huge and overwhelming and there are offices everywhere downtown, but once you get to your location you can be confident in the care you are receiving. We are so happy with Children's Birmingham! Thank you for all that you do.

My 5 year old had/has severe bladder pain, she had some test ran and a x ray, they kept us back there for 6 hours just to tell us that nothing is wrong, she is 5 and in pain!!! She is actually awake right now crying in pain! Also the parking deck sucks ! The elevators to the deck close so you’ll have to walk up the deck to your car, this will happen because the hospital will keep you there all day, I went in at 10 and left at 4! If you go here just park somewhere else.
This place is really nice on the outside but they gave me zero answers, hopefully their specialist are better than the ER drs.

The staff here are the best. From the moment you walk in whether it’s an emergency or a planned appointment. Every RN, DR., and even the admin staff all made us feel heard, were so willing to help, and friendly.

Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Only complaint would be the parking situation, if you don’t know where you’re going it can be difficult to figure out where you should park. Once you get parked though everything is easy from there.

My son had to get some teeth pulled along with other dental work and the staff were so kind and helpful! The hospital is clean and big, with alot of neat things for the kids to look at. All of the nurses were so sweet and made you feel so welcomed! They were so informative and you can tell they love what they do! I so recommend anyone bringing their child here.

My daughter had surgery here and it went awesome. I love how they can text you updates in case you can't be in the waiting area. Also love the children of the harbor place.

I’ve had a few visits and a few stays at Children’s over the years and they have always been top notch when it comes to care and attention. They entertain, they hug, they sing…they do whatever it takes to comfort the child and provide care. I salute the nursing staff. A-1
