Casa Grande Ruins Visitor Center

I like that the visitor center is not only right next to the monument, but you actually have to go through it to get out to the monument. Makes it very easy to not forget to get gifts, and I found some nice postcards for the little ones in my life and a neat mug. Very cool that this ancient desert wonder still exists. I feel like without intervention 130 years ago it might not still be standing today, though. Best part: its free to see. They do happily accept cash donations and all proceeds from the gift shop funds the maintenance of the monument.

Such a cool place to visit, it’s free and there’s a decent parking lot. They have a 25 minute video that gives history as we know of the Casa Grande ruins. It’s a quick stop because unfortunately the years have degraded the surrounding sites but what does remain is neat to see.

After living in Tucson for 50+ years and always wondering where the name came from, I was finally able to see for myself. There is a great deal to be learned from the natives that lived here and cultivated this region. The Casa Grande Ruins have a tremendous history steeped in traditions & cultural impact on our southwest. This was a great trip & well worth the time.

Nice and informative visit. I'm from AZ and never stopped here before. I took a day trip to visit the ruins. I appreciated the guided tour by a native park ranger, and her insight on the land was a bonus. Parking and entry are free. The gift shop had neat items for purchase that showcase local artists and way of life.

Loved the park and the ruins. Did not get to see a bunch, took longer from Tortilla Flat than we thought and we got there late. But what we saw was very interesting. Ranger and staff were friendly.

Be aware that there is a gate that closes before the stated time of 4 pm as listed on the National Park Service app. We pulled up at 3:45 and it was closed. I immediately called and listened to all the stuff on the recording; that took two minutes. So then I emailed and got back a notice that the gates were automatically closed at 3:45. I responded with request for them to reflect that on their website. They said they couldn’t change that because visitors who arrived in a timely manner were still allowed to tour until 4.

We went exploring Southern Arizona for our honeymoon and found our way up to Casa Grande on the way home. The gift shop was under renovation but the museum was open and told us all kinds of history before we wandered about the ruins to see what life was like back then.

Nice visitor center! Really friendly and helpful staff and a ton of exhibits on the history of the site and people that lived and farmed there. They also do guided tours.
