Paradise. The old store renovated for craft shop with adorable stuff and amazing products for everyone. You will find something unique and cozy for you and for your loved ones. My recommendation to go there any time when you are nearby.

It's such a great store. Vintage toy remakes, candy, and a wide selection of Christmas stuff, clocks. Friendly and helpful staff. A must visit!

So very disappointed today . Have been a devoted customer for many decades. Used to enjoy special dinners in the Repast. Shopped for unique gifts for birthdays and Christmas as well as decorative items for seasons and holidays. Even purchased an oak roll top desk and oak dining room buffet in the days when the Emporium sold furniture on the upper level. These days I treat my grandchildren to shopping and treats. I saw a print that I fell in love with. It’s in the Christmas shop and reminds me of looking north on Sullivan Street up into Wurtsboro hills. I decided today I would purchase this, especially since my daughter told me it would be an early Christmas gift for me. But at the same time I wanted to return a $13.50 purchase from yesterday. I bought a little packet of incense that was supposed to smell like balsam pine. When I brought it home and tried to light a piece, it didn’t smell like pine but like something burning. When I tried to return, with my receipt, I was told if an item was opened and could not be resold it could not be returned. So ends my years of being a loyal customer. Will not do business with a store that has such an unreasonable policy. Good bye Canal Towne Emporium. Very sad.

Been going to the store since 1995 and as of lately it has lost its magic. The selection of goods are becoming generic and the spirit of the canal towne has seemed to have died. Some treasures remain, but they’re dwindling away with time.

I don’t see fudge often, gifts don’t get wrapped up pretty in boxes, and the Christmas store has become a NYC boutique. Perhaps they’re becoming a NYC tourism store instead of a local gem like they used to be. The leaves of this place have gone from green to orange.

Found this on google under “souvenir shops” on my way from Catskills, NY back to Connecticut. I would say the term “souvenir shop” is a sheer understatement. Don’t let the tiny cute storefront fool you, because this place just keeps going and going - upstairs, downstairs, left and right - it unfolds into a maze of rooms filled with everything imaginable. It’s a combination of Christmas tree shops, souvenir store, Yankee Candle store and then some. Everyone from handmade soaps to kitchen gadgets to Christmas decor, jewelry, clothes, pottery, art - you name it, they have it. Very impressive! Cashier was super nice and friendly, AND they had a bathroom - a nice surprise for someone on the road!
