The lake is beautiful, and the grounds are very well kept....but it does tend to get overcrowded. Too much for my liking.
I've never camped there but have visited family while they camped.
Tents are too close to each other, and people walk through your site constantly. Having to listen to several other groups' music at the same time is no fun.
It's not my idea of a relaxing weekend.
Still. because it's so close, we do go often.
Early, very early. Cook breakfast , relax, and watch the place fill up with Day Users like us.
About noon, when it starts to warm up, we're ready to leave.
It's nice to give up our spot to a group that's been driving in circles looking for a nice place. They really do appreciate it.
I would suggest going during the week if possible. It really is a nice place, and they stock the pond with trout during the summer.

Great time didn't catch any fish but kids made out on the trick or treat walk we took Saturday night... took OG papa's pontune boat out on the water , perfect end to a rough week for me it was . Family and friendly folks camanche has a lot to offer and never disappoints. Thank you to everyone that participated in the trick or treat walk.

Went in for a day trip to hang out with family and it was great. The kids were able to play in the lake and have some fun. It did get a little crazy towards the evening before we were leaving. Another campsite was having a little too much fun and an argument started and then someone popped off. Thankfully nobody was hit and our party was safe.

Great place to relax. It’s less crowded and you can enjoy swimming, walking, hiking, camping, fishing, and just being in the nature for weekends. I see some boats out there flowing or sailing. The water is clean and well taken care of. Stop by!

We love lake Camanche! We come here every year with our family and friends and it never disappoints! I don’t think there is any other lake that you can have your camp site literally on the shore, and they have boat rentals!! We always rent the double decker boat and it’s awesome and such a great price. I love the slide! The staff makes it so easy to rent , it’s a breeze! They are always so friendly and helpful and have THE best stuff in the store!! I read the reviews about roaches, but we had no issues at all! We stayed at monument RV and it was fine! We will be back next year!!

A few friends and I spent memorial day morning 2024 trail riding. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Only wish we could take the horses in the water out on the trail.

Other than that. This is a prime location for big groups. 16 people. 4 cars allowed. 1 fire pit. Own path to lake. Porta Potty across.

We took our own canopies.

There was a rattle snake. It didn’t bother us.

We had a private cove away from water traffic.

South Shore.

I recommend. Just pick up after yourself. Don’t leave caps of bottles.

We love camping at Camanche South Shore! We rent the “Samantha” boat for a day on the lake every year. The teams at both the south and north shore are great. They are very helpful with any information you need about the lake, rentals, or new laws. Depending on the level of the lake, we’ve picked up the boat at both shores, but it seems this year they have streamlined having pick up be at North Shore only. They offer a shuttle service from the South Shore store to the North Shore to get your boat or you can drive yourself to North Shore, which we opted to do. The team there is great about having the boat prepared for us with a stocked bathroom, full propane tank for the bbq, life vests, and a full tank of gas. The guide gave us a thorough run down of everything we needed to operate the boat, including all the safety/emergency information. We had a great day! And when we brought the boat back, the employee on the dock was very helpful in guiding us in, tying us off, and helping us find/unload all of our gear off the boat. We really appreciate the great service we get every year from the Lake Camanche team!
