Had such a great experience here today I wanted to share <3 I'm brand new to trying out painting as a hobby and have been going to Michael's for supplies. Go here instead!! Blick's color and product selection is vastly better. The reason I wrote this review however was because I wanted to shoutout Vale for being so nice and helpful while I was in the store today. I had a few questions and even though I barely know anything about art, they were so nice and helped me figure out the perfect products for what I was looking for. They also helped me when I had issues with an in-store coupon. Thank you so much, definitely will make this my go-to art store from now on!

It looks like Blick's has gotten rid of those snot-nosed teenagers, and they've actually fixed the lighting in there. The customer service is now excellent.

I don't know what's it's like there on a day-in, day-out basis, but on this day, they were unprepared for the first day of school business, using only one of three registers, and customers were quite angry at the wait times to check out. Which wasn't helped by the manager responding to them in a pretty curt manner. It's a premium-priced store, like most in Santa Monica, and locals expect premium customer service. In my case, I was helped by a short, hip-looking young lady who expertly knew the store's products and layout and basically acted as my own personal shopper. She rapidly helped me fill my list, after I had spent much time unable to find almost everything on the list. So I personally was thrilled, but I overheard the manager telling employees not to help customers with lists, anymore. I presumed that was to better staff the registers, but they still only operated of them.

The ONLY reason this place doesn't score 5 stars is location. I live near Magic Mountain and the closest place to me is Santa Monica.
Staff always friendly and helpful. They usually have everything in stock. Great deals and reasonable prices.
