Beautiful location, excellent collection of artifacts with just enough explanation to enrich appreciation of how native peoples lived close to the land and made art for thousands of years in harmony with earth energies. Have visited twice in 3 years and enjoyed seeing different exhibits each time. Added bonus is the art gallery that showcases the works of contemporary native artists. Bring a picnic lunch and soak in this peaceful location amidst the picturesque boulders of Texas Canyon shaded by native trees. A jewel on the busy I-10 corridor that should not be missed.

What a very beautiful landscape! We didn't get a chance to check out the museum or art gallery as we came in a little late in the day. But the short hike we did do was very beautiful! Lots of trails here to explore! This is a privately owned location so access to the trails costs about $12 per person. It is well worth it as they keep the trails up very nicely! Access to the museum and art gallery is an additional cost. Children 10 and under are free. Staff was very pleasant. We will definitely be exploring this area again in the near future! Bikes are not allowed on the trails. We did bring my 3-year-old 's balance bike and carried it 90% of the way. We didn't realize bikes weren't allowed until we got back to the car and seen the sign. That is literally right in front of the trail. 😂

Excellent museum and art exhibit. Well worth the time to stop and do the tour. We would have walked the trails on the property, except they were closed due to the wind and fire weather.

As we were driving into the property, a beautiful herd of mule deer were meandering across the dirt road. It was awesome!

Went out with a friend on Friday, a first visit for both of us. It was an amazing experience. The museum and gallery are extremely well maintained and educational. The amount of artifacts on display is large, especially the jewelry, with information on each piece. A lot of history here, but no photos allowed. There is also a nice gift shop by the entrance. We brought our lunch and drove around back to the picnic area where there were tables under the mesquite trees and a restroom. We saw several gila woodpeckers and a vermillion flycatcher. We stopped at the cemetery on our way out. The trails were closed due to fire hazard, but we plan to come back when they are open, possibly after the monsoons.

We are so glad we made the trip out to the Amerind Museum. They have an amazing collection of pristine artifacts made by indigenous peoples presented with a wealth of information covering not just southern Arizona. The Paquimé exhibit was the highlight for us. The attached gallery had a great selection of art (which seems to rotate frequently) and included some details about the founders and history of the Amerind Foundation. Though the museum is a little bit out of the way, it was certainly worth a visit!

This place is very nice, informative, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. They had a power outage and we had barely started our tour. They offered us return vouchers, but we aren't down there that often. More than happy to donate to the cause because the place us worth keeping and the employees are so nice and helpful. Thank you all for the time and I hole you get that electricity issue fixed. It looks like Benson will be getting a substation upgrade. I hole that helps you all. Have a great day. 😁

This was a great experience, and hiking the outdoor trails through parts of Texas Canyon was great time. The outdoor scenery was fantastic, as well as the exhibits inside the museum. Although no phots allowed inside, be sure and take lots of pics on the trails.
