They never have hound & gatos cat food here! And they are listed as one of the vendors. Today I tried making an order for a case, and the lady that was there, looked at me like if I was crazy. She stated, she had never heard of that food brand. She was really rude, hoping she is not the owner of the store. Now I understand why they are always empty.

Will not be returning. I spent several hundred dollars in products and supplies for a new puppy, and was told to bring his food back if it didn’t work for him. We discovered that he has a chicken allergy and the food we purchased, that was very expensive ($80!) on the recommendation of the staff. I returned to the store and gave them all this information and asked for a different product recommendation. When it came time to pay the staff refused to switch out the food because it wasn’t in its original packaging. This was not the policy I was given when I purchased the food, I was told because he was a puppy and without an established food plan we could switch out the food if needed. I said ok, could we at least get a discount on the new food recommendation that was also extremely expensive? Nope. Unfortunately even though Maddie’s is right around the corner from my house, I will be supporting Tails in SLO. Another reviewer said this place won’t be in business long, and I have to agree. I have wondered why it’s empty every time I go in despite having such cute stuff and a wide selection, but now I understand why. Too bad.

Edit 10/1/2024 I happened to see that the owner responded in a snarky manner to not only my honest feedback but also the negative feedback reviews of three other recent patrons. I wanted to clarify that I didn’t feel the need to give your business a one star rating because I threw away the bag. I felt the need to give your business that review because throughout the interaction you were extremely rude, unprofessional, and treated me like I was asking for something outrageous when I was following store policy as it was made clear to me. My hope in providing this review was to warn potential future customers and hopefully they won’t have the same experience I did because they will choose a better business to patron. I highly recommend Tails in SLO, they got me all taken care of after this incident AND gave me a discount because of the poor service I received somewhere else. You’re trying to pass off your terrible customer service as industry standard, and it’s not. People should be warned, and that’s quite literally the point of Google Reviews. I also leave positive reviews of businesses because great service should be shared too. It sounds like you’re not angry at me, you’re angry that there is a platform where your consistently dissatisfied customers can share their experiences. I can’t thank you enough for your response because it clearly demonstrates your lack of professionalism, willingness to throw your customers away, and obvious insecurity about the negative reviews your business is receiving, it illustrates the point of my issue better than I could have. Wishing you the best, maybe seek therapy? Or just improve and the positive reviews will return? Sending hugs <3

My husband and I come here about once a week for our dogs special diet needs. They always have a great selection (toys, gear, treats, kibble, raw, freeze dried etc. You name it!!) They give us a coupon every time we buy in bulk and are so friendly! The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful... they choose every brand carefully to make sure you are getting quality and consistency, no matter what you pick up off the shelf! They have even offered many times to special order a certain food we like. Truly very kind people that care about their human AND furry customers... Plus most of the time, if they are there... you'll get a nice greeting from their super sweet doggies that lounge around the shop. Always an awesome experience here all around. So thankful for Maddie Maes! 11/10 recommend!

Fantastic pet store! They provide excellent service and their staff is extremely knowledgable about their products. They helped us find the right choice of food for our new kitten and we never felt pressured to purchase anything we didn't want or to go with a more expensive option than we needed. They also ordered us a couple items that they didn't have in the store. All around great store and we will continue to patronize this business and happily recommend it to all friends and family.

Great store for my pup! The staff are very friendly and knowledgable, and I can go there with confidence that I'm getting wholesome goodness for my dog. They also have a frequent buyer program, which is nice. I get $5 discounts regularly. Wonderful addition to our community.

Love! Love! Love! This independent pet shop! The brands they carry are the best! The customer service is spot on, knowing all the brands they carry. Would like them to add refrigerated ,not just raw food into their line of choices. Love that they carry independent lines too!

Don't buy the dog treats at the counter, there is not a dog on this planet that could chew those, abusive to give that to an animal. This place won't last so this review is pointless

Visiting from Los Angeles and found this pet store while staying in Templeton. Have to say best one I've ever been to. Picked up lots of toys and treats that I have not been able to find anywhere else. ? And all you morons thinking that a mask will save you from death are delusional. Stop watching the news people that's what's detrimental to your lives. If you really feel this way than go shop at Petco, and while your there get a vaccine for you and your dog, maybe not the dog.
