What a fantastic shop!
A friend and I headed over on a Monday afternoon and were greeted by lovely staff and she was so sweet and good with my 4yo.
The selection of yarn was phenomenal. Several indie dyers (local and others), shop only colors, and many greats like malibrigo.
Beautiful samples, patterns, and lots of notions.
Also they coordinate the Stitch and Pitch and a Zoom group.
Love this shop!!

The Best Birthday Present 🎁 for my little one! Stitching private class! Sweet place with professional staff. Nice location with the parking, next to coffee shop, etc. My daughter enjoyed her 1st class and we are definitely coming back.

I had such a bad experience and was treated rudely by the owner. I bought a skein of yarn last week and usually they wind it in a ball, which they’ve done the previous four times I’ve bought yarn there. This time the owner handed me the skein of yarn after I bought it and walked away. I brought it home and tried to hand wind it but it fell apart into a tangled mess. I brought it back today and the owner said they don’t wind the Skeins into a ball. She didn’t even offer me a replacement. So disappointed by the lack of professionalism and unkindness. I should have just dumped it in the counter. I will never go back there again. They don’t care about their customers.

I'm so glad I found The Altered Stitch! Great local yarn shop with an amazing selection of gorgeous yarns and notions for knitting and crochet. They offer group classes and private instruction which I have done both. I was struggling with learning how to crochet and taking a 1:1 class with Andrea really helped me get started. Taking the beginning group crochet class with Alicia really helped me dial in my stitches.

I only had a few minutes to explore this quaint shop, but loved it. Each yarn line had a small sign saying where it originated from (i.e., Hedgehog Fibres had a small sign with their name and Cork Co. Ireland). Mary, one of the store staff, was super friendly and answered my questions. Of course I asked the typical, ‘Do you have anything local?’ She pointed me towards a few yarns which were dyed in So. Cal. Pictured is what came home with me. Thanks, Mary - from one LYS worker to another. 😉

The best selection of quality yarns. Inviting atmosphere to sit and knit or crochet. . If you need help or have a question, the staff and owner, Leah, are more than happen to help. They also have great classes for advanced to beginner knitters & crocheters. Always something new & fun on their calendar. ..So happy they are around. The Altered Stitch is my favorite yarn shop in all of Los Angeles.

Great place to get hand-dyed yarns and also take classes! The ladies at The Altered Stitch are super friendly and always willing to answer any questions. They also offer times when you can drop by to knit with a group (provided you use the yarns purchased from their store), as well as MANY MANY different types of classes, including privates! It is definitely a great one-stop-shop for all your knitting needs.

Great staff, store is small and their focus is on hand dyed yarns. So it's the place to go for your crazy speckled skeins by independent dyers and also nice semi solids by some of the bigger hand dyers but if you're looking for mid range or lower end yarns in large quantity, go elsewhere. Also stock a good selection of knitting tools and accessories and spinning supplies.
